A note about the future of ecsoft2.org

ecsoft2.org runs on software (Drupal 7 and PHP 7.4) that reached its end of life years ago and no longer receives security updates. Keeping the site online safely is getting harder.

Giving it a future means migrating it to a current platform — and that is only worth doing if people still use it and want to help keep it alive.

If you care about ecsoft2.org, as a user, a contributor, or someone willing to lend a hand, please ggambatiscali [dot] it (get in touch) by January 31, 2027.

If no one comes forward by then, the site will be turned into a read-only archive, so that its content stays available.

WPS-Wizard adds an icon engine to the WPS so colorful PNG images can be used as icons. A preview for image files and thumbnails created by the Lucide application is added to the info area. Some of the features are:

Configurable menu items
Different menu items for different classes
Programmable object fly over help
Folder toolbars (freely programmable). Change it using drag and drop
Folder information area. Changeable using Rexx
Gadgets for displaying information on the desktop as bars or text. These are small and easy to create REXX scripts
Contents of image files is displayed as the icon
A REXX interface is provided which gives access to the WPS from user scripts. Modify functions of WPS classes using REXX (similar to subclassing)
A preview for image files and Lucide thumbnails is added to the info area of folders
Change icon size up to 200x200
Icon engine for using PNG images as icons
Icon engine allows image composition using simple statements
Separate PNG icon package are available
Help and tutorial included
Workarounds for some WPS bugs

WPS-Wizard works fine together with CW-Multimedia Classes and XWorkplace. Doesn't work with SunnyIcons and the Turbo Folders feature of XWorkplace.

This software is distributed as compressed package. You have to download and manually install it; if prerequisites are required, you will have to manually install them too.

Manual installation

Program is distributed as ZIP package, see below for download link(s). Create backup copies of your INIs! If you are updating, uninstall previous version, delete or rename installation folder and run "Checkini /C" from WPTools package. Reboot.

Unzip WPS Wizard package in destination folder and run install.cmd, then restart WPS.
To install PNG icon themes, unzip the package in destination folder, copy ./bin/theme/set-icon-theme.cmd file from WPS Wizard package to the subdirectory where CLASS-IMAGE.INI file is and run it, then restart WPS.
