LogView is a text file viewer program for OS/2 and eCS. LogView can trace 
files in realtime and is very quick. It can be used during program development 
to display debug output or to show any other text file or logfile created by any 
arbitrary program.

New in this version:

 - Search Next/Previous scrolls to the char position if it is outside the visible range. Even in the multi column view.

Features of LogView:

 - Traces the growing of text files.
 - Handles large text files with more than 65535 lines.
 - Scrolls automatically to the end of the file (optional).
 - Shows line numbers and file positions (optional).
 - Starts viewing after program start (optional):
   - from the begin of the file,
   - from the end of the file.
 - Copy to the clipboard.
 - Open file via Drop or file dialog.
 - Window position and size can be stored.
 - Font of the text view is stored automatically
 - Column wide can be stored.
 - Sound on new data. Dialog for sound settings.
 - Option to hide the Menu and Toolbar.
 - Context menu.
 - Command line switch to set the config file name.
 - The logfile poll time can be modified.
 - Column separated text files in up to 255 columns (optional):
   - The wide of each column can be modified and stored.
   - Dialog to toggle between the one-column-view and the multiple-column-view.
   - Column delimitter char is adjustable.
   - Optional fixed columns on the right or left side.
 - Comfortable search function:
   - All hits are highlited.
   - Button Next/Prev navigates throuh the search hits.
   - The search is done in background thread.
   - Abort of the search with ESC possible.

Planned enhancements:

 - Large file support.

Usage of LogView:

  logview [FileName] [/cMyLogFile[.cfg]]

Sample:
  logview c:\os2\install\current.log
  logview c:\os2\install\current.log /cMyLog1

You can enter the name of your text file as the first parameter on the command 
line or to insert the name in the parameter entry field of the programm settings.

You also can use a file that do not exist. LogView starts then and waits until 
the file becomes created.

Installation:
You can eiter use the .WPI file together with <$WarpIn> or the .ZIP file to 
install manualy.
Use WarpIn V0.9.12 or higher or create a new directory and unzip the .ZIP file 
into this directory. If you wish to start LogView from other directories, the 
LogView directory has to be in the LIBPATH variable. Alternativ you can copy the
.DLL files to a directory listed in your LIBPATH variable. If you wish to start
LogView only via a program object on your desktop, you can set the working 
directory to the .EXE directory, and the program parameter to your log file.
In that case, no LIBPATH variable is needed.

LogView is Freeware. The .DLL files delivered together with LogView are *not*
freeware! It is only allowed to use this DLL files together with LogView.
Distribution and usage of the .DLL files togeter with other programs are not
allowed. Neither it is allowed to distribute modified packages of LogView
nor to distribute parts of the LogView package separate.

LogView ist ein Programm zur Anzeige von Textdateien fr OS/2 und eCS. 
LogView ist sehr schnell und kann Dateien in Echtzeit verfolgen. Es kann 
whrend der Programmentwicklung benutzt werden um Debugausgaben zu verfolgen 
oder um Text- oder Logdateien anzuzeigen, die von beliebigen anderen Programmen 
erzeugt werden.

Neu in dieser Version:

 - Suche Next/Previous scrollt zur Zeichenposition, wenn diese ausserhalb des sichtbaren Bereichs ist. Auch in der mehrspaltigen Ansicht.

Fhigkeiten von LogView:

 - Verfolgt das Wachsen von Textdateien.
 - Kann mit groen Textdateien mit mehr als 65535 Zeilen umgehen.
 - Scrollt automatisch zum Ende der Datei (optional).
 - Zeigt Zeilennummern und Dateipositionen (optional).
 - Startet die Anzeige nach dem Programmstart:
   - vom Dateianfang an,
   - vom Ende der Datei an.
 - Kopieren von Text in das Clipboard.
 - ffnen von Dateien via Drop oder File Dialog.
 - Fensterposition und Gre kann gespeichert werden.
 - Schriftart der Textanzeige wird automatisch gespeichert
 - Spaltenbreite kann gespeichert werden.
 - Sound bei neuen Daten und Sound Einstellung.
 - Option um Menu und Toolbar zu verstecken.
 - Kontextmen.
 - Kommandozeilen Schalter um den Namen der Konfiguartionsdatei zu setzen.
 - Die Logdatei Pollzeit zu kann gendert werden.
 - Spalten separierter Text kann in bis zu 255 Spalten angezeigt werden (optional):
   - Die Breite jeder Spalte kann eingestellt und gespeichert werden.
   - Dialog zum Wechsel zwischen der einspaltigen Ansicht und der mehrspaltigen Ansicht.
   - Spaltentrennzeichen ist einstellbar.
   - Optional fixierte Spalten auf der linken oder rechten Seite.
 - Komfortable Suchfunktion:
   - Alle Treffer werden markiert angezeigt.
   - Taste Vorwrts/Rckwrts navigiert durch alle Fundstellen.
   - Die Suche luft im Hintergrund Thread.
   - Abbruch der Suche mit ESC mglich.

Geplante Erweiterungen:

 - Large File Support.

Benutzung von LogView:

  logview [FileName] [/cMyLogFile[.cfg]]

Beispiel:
  logview c:\os2\install\current.log
  logview c:\os2\install\current.log /cMyLog1

Sie mssen den Namen Ihrer Textdatei als ersten Parameter an der Kommandozeile
angeben oder ihn im Parameter Eingabefeld in den Programmeinstellungen angeben.

Sie knnen auch eine Datei angeben, die nicht existiert. LogView startet dann 
und wartet bis die Datei erzeugt wird.

Installation:
Sie knnen entweder die .WPI Datei zusammen mit <$WarpIn> benuten oder die
.ZIP datei manuell installieren.
Benutzen Sie WarpIn V0.9.12 oder hher oder erzeugen Sie ein neues Verzeichnis
und entpacken die .ZIP Datei in dieses Verzeichnis. Wenn Sie LogView von anderen
Verzeichnissen aus starten mchten, mu das LogView Verzeichnis in der LIBPATH
Variable stehen. Alternativ knnen Sie auch die .DLL Dateien in ein Verzeichnis 
kopieren das bereits in der LIBPATH Variable steht. Wenn Sie LogView lediglich
ber ein Programmobjekt auf dem Desktop starten wollen, gengt es, in den
Programmeinstellungen das Arbeitsverzeichnis auf das LogView .EXE Verzeichnis
zu setzen und als Parameter die Logdatei anzugeben. In diesem Fall wird keine
LIBPATH Variable bentigt.

LogView ist Freeware. Die .DLL Dateien, die mit LogView geliefert werden, sind
*nicht* Freeware. Es ist lediglich erlaubt, die .DLL Dateien zusammen mit LogView
zu benutzen. Die Weitergabe und Benutzung der .DLL Dateien zusammen mit anderen
Programmen ist nicht erlaubt. Weiter ist es weder erlaubt genderte Pakete von 
LogView weiterzugeben, noch Teile des LogView Paketes einzeln weiterzugeben.
